Siena Art Institute’s ‘Drawing Connections’

I am happy to announce that the work you see below will appear at the Siena Art Institute’s Grand Opening exhibition, titled ‘Drawing Connections’, which will open this September 24th, in Siena, Italy. So, if you happen to been in or around Siena toward the end of September or during the month of October I highly recommend that you pop in for a visit!
The exhibition’s theme is (as the title suggests) based on drawing. . . “bringing artists from all over the world together to celebrate the act of drawing on a postcard sized work. [They are] looking for original drawings or other artworks that celebrate the act of drawing (understanding that the act of drawing can also be celebrated in a variety of media outside of traditional drawing materials such as graphite and charcoal.”
Closer toward the opening of the exhibition there will be a downloadable catalog displaying all of the artists’ work that will appear in the exhibition. I will post a link as soon as the catalog is on-line.

LARAC’s Lapham Gallery

Good news! From July 13th – August 10th, 2012, I will be having a two-artist exhibition at LARAC’s Lapham Gallery (they just received a grant to redesign their website) in Glens Falls, NY in which I will be unveiling at least two, new, large-scale works. I will be sharing the gallery with Elizabeth Snipes (you can check out her website here). I will post an update with more detailed information as the opening date approaches.
LH Horton Jr. Gallery

From October 6th – November 3rd, 2011, Sacred Geometry (Face 1) [seen here] will be on display at the 2D/3D Figurative Works Exhibition at the LH Horton Gallery at the Delta Center for the Arts of San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA. A complete list of exhibiting artists and examples of their work will be available in the upcoming weeks. I’ll keep you posted.
Dates Announced

The dates for M(i)(A)cro: A Contemporary Drawing Exhibition at the New Art Center (NAC) outside of Boston, MA have been announced. The show will run for six weeks begininning on Monday, April 9th and ending on Sunday, May 20th. The opening reception will be on Thursday evening from 6-8pm with a curator/gallery talk from 4:30-5:30pm. I will also be giving a workshop on Friday, April 13th – subject, time and location yet to be determined. Check out the logo for the exhibition below:
VAE: Pulp

If you happen to be in North Carolina this month from July 1st – 28th, come check out Pulp in the Main Gallery at VAE (Visual Art Exchange), in Raleigh, where two of my unframed sketches for larger projects will be on exhibit. I am pretty excited about this show because these two specific drawings have never been displayed anywhere before. I also like the fact that this show is fairly informal, stressing the unframed nature of the work (which also makes it easier to ship!) The guidelines for the show were pretty simple: “Unframed works on paper. Artist books, sketchbooks & 3D works welcome. Size requirements for 2D works: 20×30 inches (standard sized drawing paper) minimum, 72 inches maximum.”

Aljira Opening

Here are a few pictures of the opening reception of Studio Montclair’s Viewpoints exhibition at Ajira Center for Contemporary Art. I was impressed with the amount of good work in the exhibit and was happy to have my work included with the rest. Past president of Studio Montclair and this year’s chairman of Viewpoints, Phoebe Pollinger, gave me a great spot for my wall drawing/painting/installation — it had enough room to breathe, was amongst some good company in the gallery it was in, and could be seen from the street.
The whole family showed up for the event — it was great to have them there (photos courtesy of the woman in black)!
Didn’t get as much of a chance to schmooze at this opening, as I was chasing my daughter around most of the night:
