I’ve added some new links to the Links section of this site (just scroll down and you’ll see the section on the bottom right). These links include artists that are working today whom I find very inspiring. So, if you happen to like my work, there’s a chance you’ll like there’s even more!

Here’s a list of the new additions (in alphabetical order):

Basil el Halwagy

Beth Shortt (check out her installations!)

Christine Wuenschel

Daniel Zweller

Doug Russell

Eric Penington

Greg Fuqua

Heide Trepanier

James Jean

Mars-1

Sara Schneckloth

Sol Kjok

The Art of Science

So, please, check some of these sites out. Leave a comment or two and let them know how you came across their work! I’m trying to start a system of open artistic dialogue and sharing of thoughts and ideas between artists that are either separated by distance or anonymity. I’ve been contacting some of these artists out-of-the-blue and have had great conversations that have both inspired me and made me question the work I make and why.

As it is the name of my blog-site, I’m assuming that you, as a visitor to this site, have conjured your own ideas as to its meaning. I’ve often been asked what I mean by this combination of highfalutin words. So, to clear up any further conclusion:

I am offering my artwork as a means (for the viewer) of transgressing (or escaping) any connotation to a belief in a spirit/soul/non-corporeal entity (ie. the most common definition of transcendentalism).

Here is Altruism w/ -1/2 Spin. It is a lenticular print installation from the Schema exhibit. It was installed on the ceiling running through and in-between both galleries. The basic premise was to visually depict what an elementary particle with an bewildering negative one-half spin would look like if we could see it. The installation is comprised of a total of 160 individual lenticular prints that were each created with the intent of being one tile in a repeating pattern. It turned out to be one of the most popular pieces in the show and was left installed for the following exhibition in that gallery which was the Adjunxtaposition 2 show (for adjunct faculty at ETSU). A big thanks to Karlota who gave me much freedom with my exhibit, especially this ceiling installation (and for all of her help, too!)
